Tampa, FL – Methamphetamine Kingpin Indicted for Distribution and Firearms Offenses

Johnathan Anton Williams, 38, of Ruskin, has been charged with distribution of methamphetamine, possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, and possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

According to the indictment, on May 4, 2022, Williams was selling methamphetamine, during which time he had a firearm and ammunition in his possession. As a previously convicted felon, he is prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition under federal law.

Williams’ previous felony convictions include robbery and possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, and being a felon in possession of a firearm. If convicted of the firearm offenses, he faces a minimum mandatory penalty of 5 years, up to life, in federal prison for carrying a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking crime, and up to 10 years in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

The indictment also notifies Williams that the United States intends to forfeit the firearm and ammunition traceable to the offense. The case will be prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Michael R. Kenneth.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and gun violence.

Williams, a convicted felon, is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition under federal law. The indictment alleges that he did so on May 4, 2022, when he was selling methamphetamine.

The investigation was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. The forfeiture will be handled by Assistant United States Attorney James A. Muench.
