SCRANTON—A 20-year-old Maine resident has been sentenced to five years’ imprisonment for his role in a heroin trafficking conspiracy that spanned multiple states, including Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, and New York, to Maine.
Stephon Davis, who used the street name ‘Chicken,’ was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment by U.S. District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion in Scranton, Pennsylvania, for his involvement in a heroin trafficking conspiracy that took place between 2010 and 2015.
According to U.S. Attorney Bruce D. Brandler, Davis previously admitted to conspiring with others to sell heroin during the aforementioned time period. Davis admitted to distributing more than 100 grams of heroin, which is equivalent to over 4,000 retail bags of heroin.
The indictment alleged that Davis and his co-defendants were part of a street gang known as the Black P-Stones, obtained heroin from suppliers in New York, and distributed the heroin in Stroudsburg and locations in Maine. According to the indictment, couriers were used to transport heroin to Maine, where Davis and others distributed it to customers.
Davis was indicted along with six other individuals by a federal grand jury in Scranton in September 2015, as a result of an investigation by agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, investigators from the Pennsylvania State Police, Maine State Police, the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, and local police in Monroe County.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis P. Sempa prosecuted the case. Judge Mannion also ordered Davis to serve four years on supervised release following his prison sentence.
This case was brought as part of a district-wide initiative to combat the nationwide heroin epidemic. Led by the United States Attorney’s Office, the heroin initiative targets heroin traffickers operating in the Middle District of Pennsylvania and is part of a coordinated effort among federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.
