Grimy Times has learned that Jonathan Garcia, 27, of Queens, New York, has been charged with a slew of federal crimes, including murder in aid of racketeering, in connection with the 2017 slaying of Joshua Flores, aka ‘Monster.’
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Garcia, aka ‘Jayo,’ is a member of the Latin Kings, a notorious street gang that operates in the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, and Long Island. The gang, specifically the Black Mob tribe, is accused of committing acts of violence, distributing narcotics, and possessing firearms.
The indictment alleges that Garcia shot and killed Flores on May 18, 2017, in a move that elevated his status within the Latin Kings.
Garcia is charged with five counts, including conspiracy to commit racketeering, murder in aid of racketeering, murder through the use of a firearm, narcotics conspiracy, and using a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking offense.
The charges carry a range of sentences, including life in prison or death for the murder in aid of racketeering charge.
Garcia was arrested today and will be presented before U.S. Magistrate Judge Gabriel W. Gorenstein in Manhattan federal court.
The case has been assigned to U.S. District Judge Valerie E. Caproni.
Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
The charges against Garcia are a stark reminder of the dangers posed by street gangs and the importance of continued law enforcement efforts to combat their activities.
