Kidnapping and Possession of Child Pornography Conviction Rocks Ohio Community
Ohio resident Jonathan L. Stinnett, 36, of Jackson Township, Ohio, has pleaded guilty to the heinous crimes of kidnapping a five-year-old child and possession of child pornography, as announced by Acting U.S. Attorney Michelle M. Baeppler.
According to court documents, on November 11, 2021, Stinnett kidnapped the young child and transported them across state lines to Illinois for the purposes of sexual gratification and exclusive companionship.
On November 12, 2021, the McLean County Sheriff’s Department in Bloomington, Illinois, received a call regarding a suspicious parked vehicle, leading to the arrest of Stinnett and the safe recovery of the child.
Stinnett was arrested and later confirmed his involvement in the kidnapping to law enforcement officials, who also discovered a flash drive containing visual depictions of child pornography at the scene.
Stinnett is set to be sentenced on July 6, 2022, facing the consequences of his actions.
This case was investigated by the FBI, Jackson Township Police, and the McLean County Sheriff’s Department in Bloomington, Illinois, with Assistant U.S. Attorneys Peter E. Daly and Aaron P. Howell leading the prosecution.
