Jonathan Medina-Flores, 41, Sentenced to 40 Months in Prison for Reentry to U.S.
SOUTH BEND, Indiana – In a recent court ruling, Jonathan Medina-Flores, a 41-year-old citizen of Mexico, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Damon R. Leichty to 40 months in prison after pleading guilty to reentering the United States illegally.
According to documents, Medina-Flores was previously convicted in St. Joseph County of felony possession of cocaine in 2006. After being removed to Mexico in 2007, 2014, and 2015, he illegally reentered the United States each time. His most recent reentry occurred in May 2023 in St. Joseph County.
Medina-Flores’ criminal history includes multiple felony convictions in St. Joseph and Elkhart Counties. His illegal reentries have resulted in three removals from the United States.
Medina-Flores was investigated by the United States Department of Homeland Security, Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jerome W. McKeever.
Medina-Flores’ guilty plea and subsequent sentence mark a significant milestone in the ongoing effort to combat immigration and border control issues in the United States.
