Jonathan Wayne Dillon, Illegal Narcotics Possession, Pennsylvania 2018

Pittsburgh, PA – Grimy Times – A West Virginia man has been charged with illegally possessing heroin and fentanyl, a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh announced today.

Jonathan Wayne Dillon, 36, of the Charleston area of Kanawha County, West Virginia, was named as the sole defendant in a one-count indictment. According to the indictment, Dillon possessed with the intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin and 40 grams or more of fentanyl on March 22, 2018.

The defendant faces a maximum total penalty of not less than five years and not more than 40 years in prison, a fine of not more than $5,000,000, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.

Dillon’s case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Ross E. Lenhardt on behalf of the government. The investigation leading to the indictment was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration with valuable assistance from the West Homestead Police Department and the Pennsylvania State Police.

An indictment is merely an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

The indictment was returned on August 21. Dillon’s alleged crimes are a stark reminder of the ongoing heroin and fentanyl epidemic plaguing the United States.

The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
