A 19-year-old Texas Man Indicted for Attempted Coercion and Enticement of a Child

A 19-year-old man from San Juan, Texas, has been indicted on charges of attempted coercion and enticement of a child, announced U.S. Attorney Jennifer B. Lowery.

Jorge Eduardo Naranjo, who operated multiple accounts on the Kik messaging platform with the username ‘Bored Dude,’ was initially charged by criminal complaint. A federal grand jury returned a single-count indictment against him today.

Naranjo allegedly began communicating with someone he thought had a nine-year-old child on Kik. He distributed files of child pornography and requested to meet the individual’s ‘little,’ according to the charges.

At his detention hearing following the filing of the criminal complaint, Naranjo was found to be a danger to the community and was ordered into custody pending future criminal proceedings.

The FBI conducted the investigation, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Devin V. Walker is prosecuting the case as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Naranjo is expected to appear before a U.S. magistrate judge on the indictment in the near future.
