A Mexican citizen has been caught falsifying a passport application in Morgan City, Louisiana.
Jose Luis Andrade Diaz, 32, of Mexico, submitted a fraudulent passport application on April 26, 2007, to the Morgan City post office using another person’s identity.
According to the guilty plea, Diaz used the individual’s name, birthdate, and Social Security number on the passport application.
The case was investigated by the State Department, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Dominic Rossetti is prosecuting the case.
Diaz faces up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine.
The court set a sentencing date of October 23, 2017.
The charges against Diaz include one count of false statement in application for a passport.
Morgan City, Louisiana, is a city located in St. Mary Parish, with a population of around 11,000 people.
