Pecos, Texas – In a shocking turn of events, a father and daughter from Pecos have been sentenced to prison for their roles in a methamphetamine conspiracy.
Judge Louis Guirola, Jr. handed down the sentences in federal court, sentencing 56-year-old Jose Luis Corrales to 365 months and 28-year-old Angelica Corrales to 210 months in federal prison.
The two defendants, both from Pecos, were found guilty of one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. According to court records, they admitted to distributing over 3000 grams of methamphetamine from October 2013 to August 2014.
Angelica Corrales, in particular, admitted to selling a minimum of three grams of methamphetamine, supplied by her father, three times a day for a year. This staggering admission highlights the scope of the conspiracy and the harm it caused to the community.
The case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security Investigations – Alpine and the Pecos Police Department, with assistance from the United States Border Patrol, Department of Public Safety, the Texas Rangers, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Assistant United States Attorney James J. Miller, Jr. prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The sentencing marks a significant victory in the fight against methamphetamine trafficking in West Texas.
Judge Guirola also ordered both defendants to serve a 5-year term of supervised release upon completion of their prison terms.
The sentences are a testament to the dedication of law enforcement agencies and prosecutors in bringing those responsible for this crime to justice.
