BUFFALO, N.Y. – Jose Martinez, aka Noelle, 47, of Jamestown, NY, has been sentenced to life in prison for his role in a brutal narcotics trafficking operation that led to the murder of a cooperating defendant.
On May 30, 2008, Quincy Turner, a key witness in the case, was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds inside his Mercedes SUV in the parking lot of his automotive garage adjacent to the Jamestown Airport.
Martinez, who ran a drug trafficking organization in Jamestown between 2007 and June 2008, supplied cocaine to another organization led by Quentin Leeper. In May 2008, Martinez put out a contract for Turner’s killing, believing the witness was cooperating with law enforcement.
U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. called Martinez’s conviction a ‘murder conviction’ and stated that his office will be relentless in pursuing justice for those who pose a danger to the community.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Thomas S. Duszkiewicz and Frank T. Pimentel handled the prosecution of the case, which involved a total of 45 defendants charged in connection with three drug trafficking organizations operating between Jamestown and Rochester, NY. 40 defendants have been convicted, three were acquitted at trial, and two others died, including Turner.
The investigation was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Department, and the Jamestown Police Department. Additional assistance was provided by the Chautauqua County District Attorney’s Office.
Martinez was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny to life in prison. The sentencing marks the culmination of a lengthy investigation into the narcotics trafficking activities of Martinez and his associates.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of narcotics trafficking and the importance of holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
