Jose Solorio-Martinez, a 38-year-old Mexican national, has been federally indicted in the Eastern District of Texas for illegally reentering the United States after previously being deported.
According to the indictment, Solorio-Martinez was found illegally in Mount Pleasant, Texas, on April 24, 2025, after having been previously deported to Mexico from the United States on August 8, 2017.
The indictment alleges that Solorio-Martinez knowingly and intentionally reentered the United States without permission, in violation of federal law. This case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that aims to combat illegal immigration and transnational crime.
Operation Take Back America is a comprehensive effort that brings together the full resources of the Department of Justice to target and dismantle transnational criminal organizations (TCOs) and protect American communities from violent crime. The operation streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
If convicted, Solorio-Martinez faces up to 2 years in federal prison and deportation. The case is being investigated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, Texas Department of Public Safety, FBI, and Mount Pleasant Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lauren Richards is prosecuting the case.
A federal indictment is not evidence of guilt, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law. The case against Solorio-Martinez will proceed through the federal court system, with a trial date to be set in the coming months.
The Eastern District of Texas has seen a significant increase in cases related to illegal reentry and immigration-related crimes in recent years. The district has been at the forefront of efforts to combat these crimes, working closely with federal and local law enforcement agencies to identify and prosecute offenders.
The indictment of Jose Solorio-Martinez serves as a reminder of the importance of enforcing federal immigration laws and protecting the integrity of the United States border. As the case against Solorio-Martinez moves forward, it will be closely watched by law enforcement officials and the community at large.
