Joshua Derek Raines, Firearms Charge, West Virginia 2021

A 38-year-old man from Elkins, West Virginia has been sentenced for his role in a firearms charge. Joshua Derek Raines was found guilty of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug crime.

The crime, which occurred in August 2019, involved Raines possessing a .40 caliber pistol during a drug trafficking crime.

The Mountain Region Drug & Violent Crimes Task Force investigated the case and Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen D. Warner prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.

U.S. District Judge Thomas S. Kleeh presided over the sentencing hearing.

Raines, who pleaded guilty to the charge in July 2021, was sentenced to 60 months of incarceration. This sentence is a result of his admission to having a .40 caliber pistol during the drug trafficking crime.
