Joshua Hogan, Fentanyl Distribution and Gun Possession, Louisiana 2024

New Orleans, Louisiana – Joshua Hogan, 36, was handed a severe sentence yesterday after being convicted on federal charges of distributing Fentanyl and possessing a firearm. The gritty city witnessed Hogan’s downfall as he was sentenced to 66 months in prison, following a conviction on six counts related to his involvement in the drug trade.

Hogan pleaded guilty to distributing fentanyl, which led to the distribution of heroin and fentanyl, resulting in serious harm to the community. His sentence also includes supervised release for four years upon completion of his prison term, with mandatory assessment fees totaling $600.

The investigation into Hogan began in August 2023 during Operation Big Easy, a collaborative effort by federal agents aimed at dismantling drug trafficking operations. Over several months, ATF agents arranged encounters with Hogan to purchase large quantities of fentanyl, leading to the recovery of substantial amounts of the deadly substance.

On October 18, 2023, ATF executed an arrest warrant and search warrant for Hogan’s residence. Inside, they found additional fentanyl and a Polymer 80 pistol, equipped with an extended magazine and ammunition, indicating Hogan’s involvement in gun-related activities.

This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), an initiative designed to reduce violent crime and make neighborhoods safer. The Department of Justice has prioritized enforcement efforts against drug trafficking and firearms possession as part of their strategic approach to public safety.

Joshua Hogan’s sentence sends a strong message about the consequences of engaging in dangerous criminal activities, particularly those involving the distribution of deadly drugs and illegal firearms.
