Joshua John Todecheene, Second Degree Murder, Arizona 2020

PHOENIX, Ariz. – A Kayenta man has been sentenced to 17.5 years in prison for second degree murder. Joshua John Todecheene, 30, of Kayenta, Arizona, was sentenced yesterday by U.S. District Judge Diane J. Humetewa to 17.5 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. Todecheene previously pleaded guilty to second degree murder.

In February 2020, Todecheene was involved in an argument with the victim. After leaving the scene, he returned with a rifle and shot the victim in the chest, killing him. Both Todecheene and the victim are members of the Navajo Nation.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety conducted the investigation in this case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kiyoko Patterson handled the prosecution.

The case number is CR-20-8038-PCT-DJH and the release number is 2022-030_Todecheene.

Todecheene’s crime took place in February 2020 in Kayenta, Arizona. He was sentenced on an unknown exact date of the year, but it was after he pleaded guilty.
