Defendant Sentenced to 151 Months for Child Sex Abuse Material Distribution

Joshua White, a 47-year-old man from Albany County, has been sentenced to 151 months in prison for his role in distributing and possessing child sexual abuse material.

On July 2023, White was found to possess child sexual abuse material depicting victims he obtained from the Internet and social media messaging applications. The material included sexually explicit images of a minor known to him that he distributed over text message.

White was ordered to forfeit the property used to commit the offense and pay a special assessment and restitution of $5,000 to the victim known to him. He is required to register as a sex offender upon his release from prison.

United States Attorney John A. Sarcone III and Erin Keegan, Special Agent in Charge of the Buffalo Field Office of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), made the announcement. The HSI and the New York State Police investigated this case.

Assistant United States Attorney Michael D. Gadarian prosecuted this case as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
