Kearney-area Man Lands 10-Year Prison Sentence for Methamphetamine Possession
A man from the Kearney area has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after authorities found him in possession of large quantities of methamphetamine.
According to the United States Attorney for the District of Nebraska, Juan Adolpho Arredondo was sentenced on April 24, 2018, by the Honorable United States Judge John M. Gerrard, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Arredondo’s crime occurred prior to his arrest in January 2017 in Buffalo County.
Arredondo’s charges stemmed from his possession of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, with the intent to distribute. This serious offense carries steep penalties, which Arredondo is now facing.
The United States Attorney Joseph P. Kelly announced the sentencing, stating the severity of Arredondo’s crime. Kelly’s office worked closely with the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Department and Central Nebraska Drug and Safe Streets Task Force to bring Arredondo to justice.
Arredondo will face a five-year term of supervision after serving his 10-year prison sentence. In addition, he will forfeit more than $5,000 seized by law enforcement during his arrest.
The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat methamphetamine trafficking in Nebraska. Authorities will continue to work together to hold those responsible for this destructive crime accountable.
