Omaha Man Sentenced for Methamphetamine Trafficking

A Nebraska man has been sentenced to 70 months in prison for his role in a methamphetamine trafficking operation.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Leonides Carreno was convicted of conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

The crime was uncovered on December 13, 2016, when investigators used a confidential source to purchase approximately 1 pound of methamphetamine from Carreno in exchange for $5,000.00.

Surveillance footage captured the transaction, which was arranged telephonically through a third party and took place in Omaha, Nebraska.

Carreno will also serve a 4-year term of supervised release following his prison sentence.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Omaha Field Division.

U.S. Attorney Joe Kelly announced the sentencing, which took place on August 24, 2018.
