Grimy Times has learned that Judy A. Robbins has been appointed as the new U.S. Trustee for southern and western Texas, effective September 27, 2010. The appointment comes after Charles F. McVay, the previous U.S. Trustee for Region 7, stepped down.
Mrs. Robbins, a seasoned lawyer with extensive experience in bankruptcy law, has been serving as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Southern District of Texas since 1992. Her expertise in bankruptcy, civil fraud, commercial litigation, and employment discrimination has earned her numerous accolades, including the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) National Awards, Silver Medal, and the EPA’s Notable Achievement Award, Superfund Team of the Year, in 2007.
Before joining the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Mrs. Robbins served as a bankruptcy attorney for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in Houston. She also worked as a trial attorney for the U.S. Trustee’s office in Houston, an estate administrator for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, and a pro se law clerk for the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
Mrs. Robbins received her law degree from the University of Houston College of Law and her undergraduate degree cum laude from the University of Houston. Her extensive experience in the field has prepared her well for the role of U.S. Trustee for southern and western Texas.
The U.S. Trustee Program (USTP) is a component of the Justice Department that oversees the bankruptcy system to ensure its integrity. The USTP has 21 regions and 95 field offices, with Region 7 headquartered in Houston.
