West Springfield Man Guilty of Child Exploitation
A West Springfield man pleaded guilty to producing and distributing child pornography.
Justin Germaine, 27, pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual exploitation of a child, eight counts of distribution of child pornography, five counts of receipt of child pornography, and one count of possession of child pornography.
According to the investigation, Germaine took sexually explicit photos of a five-year-old girl and documented himself sexually abusing the child between November 2015 and June 2016. He also exchanged emails with an individual in New Hampshire, in which the two discussed having sex with children and trading child pornography.
The charges carry a sentence of up to 30 years in prison, a lifetime of supervised release, and a fine of $250,000. If the plea agreement is accepted by the court, Germaine will be sentenced to 30 years in prison and 20 years of supervised release. He has been in custody since his arrest in July 2016.
Germaine’s sentencing is scheduled for February 8, 2018. This case is brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from exploitation and abuse.
Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children, as well as identify and rescue victims. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit www.projectsafechildhood.gov.
Germaine’s case is a disturbing example of the horrific crimes committed against children. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case and bring you updates as more information becomes available.
