WASHINGTON – In a chilling series of events, Michael Ron David Kadar, a 19-year-old with dual U.S. and Israeli citizenship, has been indicted in three jurisdictions for hate crimes, threats to Jewish community centers, cyberstalking, and conveying false information.
The DOJ announced Kadar’s indictment after an investigation into threats made throughout the United States from 2016 to early 2017. Initially charged in Florida and Georgia in April 2017 following his arrest in Israel, Kadar remains in Israeli custody facing further charges.
In Florida, Kadar is accused of making multiple bomb threats and active shooter threats to Jewish Community Centers, leading to evacuations and law enforcement responses. He also made false bomb threats to Orlando International Airport and a middle school. The District of Columbia indictment alleges Kadar threatened the Anti-Defamation League and the Israeli Embassy with bomb threats.
In Georgia, Kadar faces charges for cyberstalking and conveying false information regarding an alleged hostage situation that resulted in a police response to a non-existent emergency.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions emphasized the gravity of hate crimes: “When individuals target victims based on who they are, what they believe, or how they worship, they target the bedrock principles on which our nation was founded.”
FBI Director Christopher Wray echoed these sentiments, noting the impact on those affected: “This indictment demonstrates the FBI’s commitment to protect the safety and civil rights of all Americans, showing that we will not stand idly by when communities are threatened.”
