Kadeem Pimentel, a 25-year-old Haverhill man, was sentenced to 26 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Pimentel was found to be in possession of two shotguns, including a sawed-off shotgun, on August 30, 2018, after a search warrant was executed at his residence.
According to court documents, the firearms were found after Pimentel accidentally discharged the sawed-off shotgun in a vehicle at his residence while he was with other individuals.
Pimentel pleaded guilty to the charge on September 25, 2019, and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Patti B. Saris.
U.S. Attorney Andrew E. Lelling, Kelly D. Brady, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Boston Field Division, and Chief Allen R. DeNaro of the Haverhill Police Department announced the sentencing.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Crowley of Lelling’s Organized Crime and Gang Unit prosecuted the case.
The sentence will be followed by three years of supervised release, according to court documents.
