A 20-year prison sentence has been handed down to a Nazareth man for his role in a massive heroin trafficking scheme in eastern Pennsylvania.
Keith Eutsey, 39, was found guilty of violating federal narcotics laws and will serve 20 years in prison followed by 10 years supervised release, according to U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton.
Chief United States District Judge Joy Flowers Conti imposed the sentence on Eutsey, who was accused of conspiring with others to distribute and possess with intent to distribute 1 kilogram or more of heroin, a Schedule I controlled substance, from March 1, 2014, to April 3, 2014.
The heroin trafficking scheme was uncovered through a joint investigation led by the Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), which is headed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The task force is comprised of members from the FBI Greater Pittsburgh Safe Street Task Force, including the Wilkinsburg Police Department, Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, Munhall Police Department, Duquesne Police Department, Monroeville Police Department, Allegheny County Police Department, West Mifflin Police Department, and the Pittsburgh Police Department.
The OCDETF program provides critical federal funding and coordination, allowing federal and state agencies to work together to identify, investigate, and prosecute major interstate and international drug trafficking organizations and other criminal enterprises.
Assistant United States Attorneys Amy L. Johnston and Cindy K. Chung prosecuted the case on behalf of the government.
