Cocaine Trafficker Sentenced to 32 Months in Prison

A St. Louis area man has been sentenced for his role in a cocaine conspiracy that funneled the illicit substance from Houston, Texas, to the Metro-East area.

Keith Harris, 60, of St. Louis, Missouri, was sentenced on April 8, 2016, in federal court for his role as a courier for a drug distribution organization.

The investigation, conducted under the auspices of the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), revealed that Harris was involved in the distribution of cocaine between April 2011 and February 2013.

Harris was sentenced to 32 months in prison, 2 years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $200 fine and a $100 special assessment.

To date, all ten other individuals charged as a result of this investigation have been convicted and sentenced.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Laura V. Reppert and Jonathan S. Drucker.

According to the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, James L. Porter, the OCDETF initiative is designed to bring federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies together to identify, target, and dismantle large national and international drug trafficking organizations.

Harris’s sentencing serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to combat cocaine trafficking in the region.
