Columbus Man Charged with Armed Robbery, Gun Violence
A Columbus man is facing federal charges after allegedly setting up fake online sales to lure victims and steal their money, with some cases involving gunpoint robberies and shootings.
Keith Jorel Hudson, 34, is accused of pretending to be selling a car and posing as an online escort to rob victims at gunpoint. According to an affidavit filed in support of the criminal complaint, Hudson allegedly brandished a firearm during the robberies and shot and struck two victims.
The incidents allegedly occurred on March 5 and March 20, when Hudson met up with victims who had communicated with him on Facebook Messenger and a personals webpage. In one case, Hudson allegedly pistol whipped a victim and shot him in the back of the neck, leaving a flesh wound and shattering the victim’s car window.
In the second incident, Hudson allegedly approached a victim and pointed a handgun at him, demanding cash. The victim gave Hudson $30 and attempted to leave, but Hudson began shooting at the victim, striking him in the hand and disabling his car.
Hudson was arrested shortly after the second incident and is facing two counts of robbery and two counts of discharging a firearm during a crime of violence. If convicted, he could face a maximum of 20 years in prison for each count.
