Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Leader Pleads Guilty to Unlawful Possession of Firearm
NEWARK, N.J. – In a shocking turn of events, Keith Richter, the national president of the Pagan’s Motorcycle Club, pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a firearm in New Jersey.
Richter, also known as ‘Conan,’ admitted to possessing a loaded Ruger P345 .45 caliber handgun on February 20, 2021, while traveling from a party in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to his home in Suffolk County, New York. The vehicle was pulled over in Mercer County, New Jersey, and the handgun was recovered from the front-seat compartment.
Richter, 62, of Bay Shore, New York, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon before U.S. District Judge Kevin McNulty. The offense carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
Richter has a history of felony convictions, including conspiracy to commit murder and aggravated assault in aid of racketeering, for which he served a sixteen-year term of imprisonment.
The investigation leading to Richter’s guilty plea was a collaborative effort between the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, and the New Jersey State Police.
The case is also part of Project Guardian, the Department of Justice’s signature initiative to reduce gun violence and enforce federal firearms laws.
Richter’s sentencing is scheduled for December 3, 2021.
