Felony Sentencing Reveals Extensive History of Crime
A 55-year-old Sioux City man was caught red-handed with over 76 grams of pure methamphetamine during a traffic stop on October 26, 2022. Kelly Malloy, 55, from Sioux City, Iowa, was stopped by the Le Mars Police Department.
The evidence at the plea and sentencing hearings showed that Malloy intended to distribute some or all of the methamphetamine to another person. He has an extensive criminal history, including multiple convictions for eluding, possession of controlled substances, assaults, and a prior federal conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine conviction.
Malloy pled guilty to possession with intent to distribute and aiding and abetting another in the possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine on June 13, 2023. He was sentenced to 144 months’ imprisonment on October 24, 2023 by United States District Court Chief Judge Leonard T. Strand. The sentence also includes a 5-year term of supervised release following imprisonment.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and was investigated by the Le Mars Police Department and the Tri-State Drug Task Force based in Sioux City, Iowa, which consists of law enforcement personnel from the Drug Enforcement Administration; Sioux City, Iowa, Police Department; Homeland Security Investigations; Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office; South Sioux City, Nebraska, Police Department; Nebraska State Patrol; Iowa National Guard; Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement; United States Marshals Service; South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation; and Woodbury County Attorney’s Office.
