Moline man sentenced to 180 months in prison for drug and gun charges.
A Moline, Illinois, man has been sentenced to federal prison for his involvement in a drug trafficking operation in and around Davenport, Iowa.
Michael Terrell Richardson, 40, was sentenced to 180 months in prison by United States District Court Judge Stephanie M. Rose on Wednesday, October 6, 2021.
Richardson was found guilty of Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime and Conspiracy to Distribute Cocaine Base.
According to court documents, Richardson was involved in long-term trafficking of controlled substances in and around Davenport. He knowingly possessed two firearms in furtherance of his drug trafficking activities.
Richardson was also under supervision for a prior controlled substance charge and had a prior conviction for attempted first degree murder.
Acting United States Attorney Richard D. Westphal announced the sentence. The case was investigated by the Davenport Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Scott County Sheriff’s Office, East Moline Police Department, and the Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office.
This case is part of the Project Safe Neighborhood, a program bringing together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and make our neighborhoods safer for everyone. Richardson was ordered to serve five years of supervised release to follow his prison term and pay $200 to the Crime Victims’ Fund.
Richardson’s sentence is a result of his involvement in a long-term drug trafficking operation. His possession of firearms in furtherance of his drug trafficking activities put the community at risk.
The Project Safe Neighborhood program aims to reduce violent crime by working together with the community and law enforcement agencies.
