Kelvin Robinson, Armed Robbery, Pennsylvania 2016

SCRANTON – A 25-year-old man from Virginia was sentenced to 7 years in prison for his role in the armed robbery of the Econo Lodge in Scranton. Kelvin Robinson, of Newport News, Virginia, was found guilty of brandishing a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

The robbery took place on February 13, 2016, at the Econo Lodge in Scranton. According to court documents, Robinson was one of four individuals who were involved in the robbery, including Tracy Whiting, Kwa’shon Roane, and Rodney Whiting. All four defendants entered guilty pleas and are awaiting sentencing.

The investigation into the robbery was conducted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), the Scranton Police Department, the Pennsylvania State Police, the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office, and numerous local law enforcement agencies.

Robinson was sentenced by United States District Judge Malachy E. Mannion to serve 7 years in prison. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Robert J. O’Hara.

The case was brought as part of the Violent Crime Reduction Partnership, a district-wide initiative to combat the spread of violent crime in the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Led by the United States Attorney’s Office, the partnership consists of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies who work together to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who commit violent crimes.
