Rockaway Beach Man Sentenced for Six Bank Robberies
A Rockaway Beach, Mo., man has been sentenced to eight years and four months in federal prison for six bank robberies in Missouri, Oregon, and Iowa.
Kenneth Dewain Parker, 49, of Rockaway Beach, was sentenced by U.S. Chief District Judge Fernando J. Gaitan to eight years and four months in federal prison without parole. The court also ordered Parker to pay $22,362 in restitution.
The bank robberies took place in Columbia, Mo., Sedalia, Mo., Eugene, Ore., Salem, Ore., Portland, Ore., and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Parker admitted to stealing a total of $22,362 from the banks.
The robberies occurred in the following cities and states:
- US Bank in Columbia, Mo. – Sept. 3, 2010, $2,500
- Union Savings Bank in Sedalia, Mo. – Sept. 21, 2010, $9,150
- Liberty Bank in Eugene, Ore. – July 30, 2010, $3,585
- Umpqua Bank in Salem, Ore. – Aug. 17, 2010, $2,203
- Key Bank in Portland, Ore. – Aug. 23, 2010, $2,385
- Bank of the West in Cedar Rapids, Iowa – Aug. 31, 2010, $X (amount not specified)
Parker pleaded guilty to several separate federal indictments on July 30, 2012. The cases were prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim Lynn. The case was investigated by the FBI, the Columbia, Mo., Police Department, the Sedalia, Mo., Police Department, the University City, Mo., Police Department, the Brentwood, Mo., Police Department, and the Taney County, Mo., Sheriff’s Department.
Parker will serve his sentence without parole and must pay restitution to the victims. The case serves as a reminder of the consequences of bank robbery and the importance of working together to prevent these crimes.
