Kenneth Marvin Bray, a 54-year-old resident of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to one count of Felon in Possession of Firearm, a charge that could land him up to 15 years in prison and a $250,000.00 fine.
The guilty plea was entered in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, with the Honorable D. Edward Snow, U.S. Magistrate Judge, accepting the plea. Bray’s plea is the result of an investigation by the McCurtain County Sheriff’s Office, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
According to the Indictment, Bray knowingly possessed a 9mm semi-automatic pistol on November 30, 2023, despite having been previously convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year in prison. This prior conviction made it illegal for Bray to possess a firearm, and his guilty plea acknowledges that he violated this law.
The investigation that led to Bray’s guilty plea was a collaborative effort between local and federal law enforcement agencies. The McCurtain County Sheriff’s Office, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives all played a role in gathering evidence and building the case against Bray.
Bray will remain in the custody of the United States Marshals Service pending sentencing. A U.S. District Court Judge will determine the sentence to be imposed after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jonathan E. Soverly and Dak T. Cohen represented the United States in the case.
The guilty plea entered by Kenneth Marvin Bray serves as a reminder that federal law enforcement agencies take firearm offenses seriously. The prosecution of individuals who illegally possess firearms is an important part of efforts to reduce crime and keep communities safe. As Bray awaits sentencing, his case will be closely watched by those interested in firearm laws and their enforcement.
In the coming weeks, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the appropriate sentence for Kenneth Marvin Bray. The sentence could range from a few years in prison to the maximum of 15 years, and may also include a significant fine. The outcome of the sentencing will depend on a variety of factors, including Bray’s prior criminal history and the specific circumstances of the offense.
