MUSKOGEE, OK – Kenny Ray Smith, a 62-year-old from Whitesboro, Oklahoma, will spend the next two decades in federal prison after a jury found him guilty of peddling meth. Smith got 240 months – 20 years – for each of two counts of distributing the drug, sentences to be served at the same time.
Investigators with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN), the DEA, and the District 16 DA’s office busted Smith after a pair of controlled buys. On June 27, 2024, he allegedly sold 27.85 grams of methamphetamine to an undercover OBN operative. Less than two weeks later, on July 9th, he moved 52.9 grams in a buy conducted jointly by the DEA and OBN.
Federal prosecutor Christopher J. Wilson called Smith a “long-time” drug trafficker and said the sentence fit the crime. OBN Director Donnie Anderson highlighted the deadly impact of methamphetamine in Oklahoma, saying the agency will keep hitting those who pump the poison onto the streets. DEA officials echoed the sentiment, promising no tolerance for repeat offenders profiting from the drug.
