Kenta Montrice Wright, Methamphetamine Distribution, North Carolina 2025

A Salisbury man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for distributing large quantities of methamphetamine in the Charlotte area.

Kenta Montrice Wright, 44, was sentenced to 120 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release, according to a recent announcement by Russ Ferguson, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina.

Wright was accused of distributing methamphetamine between March and July 2025. During this time, he sold the drug to an undercover law enforcement officer on two separate occasions. On July 21, 2025, Wright was arrested at his home in Salisbury.

Following his arrest, law enforcement executed a search warrant at his residence and vehicle, where they found over 640 grams of methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, two firearms, one of which was stolen, various calibers of ammunition, and other firearms accessories.

Wright is currently in federal custody and will be transferred to the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons upon designation of a federal facility.

The investigation into Wright’s activities was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Gastonia Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Dana Washington of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Charlotte was responsible for prosecuting the case.

Wright’s sentencing is part of the larger ‘Operation Take Back America,’ a nationwide initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration, eliminating cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime.
