Wisconsin’s Keshena resident Justin A. Schneider is facing a maximum sentence of life in prison after being indicted for an alleged sexual assault on the Menominee Indian Reservation. The 18-year-old faces charges stemming from an incident that occurred at his residence on May 15, 2017.
According to the federal indictment, Schneider engaged in a sexual act with an adult female by using force. During the sex act, the defendant is alleged to have held down the victim’s arms and placed his hand on her chest. The charges against him are in violation of 18 United States Code, Section 2241(a)(1), and carry a potential sentence of life imprisonment, a fine of up to $250,000, and supervised release ranging from five years to a lifetime.
The investigation into the sexual assault was conducted by the Menominee Tribal Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Andrew J. Maier is handling the prosecution of the case.
It’s important to note that an indictment is merely a charge and does not constitute evidence of guilt. Schneider is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he is entitled to a fair trial.
