Metairie Man Indicted for Distributing Child Sexual Abuse Material
Kevin Lillis, a 50-year-old resident of Metairie, Louisiana, has been indicted for his involvement in the distribution and receipt of child sexual abuse material. The indictment, announced by U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans, charges Lillis with three counts of violating federal law.
The indictment alleges that Lillis distributed visual depictions of minors, including children as young as four years old, engaging in sexually explicit conduct. The material included a depiction of a prepubescent female bound and unclothed. Lillis also received visual depictions of minors, as young as less than one week old, engaging in sexually explicit conduct, including a newborn female with severe discoloration and bruising being victimized by an adult male.
Lillis faces a mandatory minimum of five years in prison, and a maximum term of imprisonment of twenty years as to each of Counts 1, 2, and 3. He also faces at least five years, and up to a lifetime, of supervised release and up to a $250,000 fine for each count. Lillis may also be required to register as a sex offender.
U.S. Attorney Evans reiterated that an indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006.
Assistant United States Attorney Jordan Ginsberg, Chief of the Public Integrity Unit, is in charge of the prosecution. U.S. Attorney Evans praised the work of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in investigating this matter.
Kevin Lillis’s indictment highlights the importance of addressing child sexual exploitation and abuse. The severity of the charges against him underscores the gravity of this crime. As the investigation and prosecution of this case continue, the community can remain assured that those responsible for such heinous acts will be held accountable.
This case serves as a reminder of the need for continued vigilance in protecting our children from exploitation and abuse. The efforts of law enforcement and prosecutors in bringing perpetrators to justice are crucial in preventing further harm to victims.
