Kevin Tocker-Rose Sentenced for Heroin Dealing

New York’s Kevin Tocker-Rose has been handed a 40-month federal prison sentence for his role in heroin dealing, marking a significant victory in Vermont’s battle against drug trafficking.

The 30-year-old Brooklyn resident was caught by the Vermont State Police Drug Task Force and other law enforcement agencies during a controlled purchase operation on May 5, 2016. Tocker-Rose was traveling from New York City to Burlington, where he was apprehended after disembarking from a bus, police said.

Upon his arrest, authorities seized approximately 30 grams of heroin, further solidifying the charges against him. The court records indicate that Tocker-Rose had been transporting significant quantities of the drug across state lines for redistribution.

Judge William K. Sessions III, who presided over the case, acknowledged Tocker-Rose’s difficult upbringing and strong support system as mitigating factors in determining his sentence. Despite the statutory maximum term of 20 years, Tocker-Rose was sentenced to less than half that time.

United States Attorney Eric Miller praised the collaborative efforts of the Vermont State Police Drug Task Force, DEA, and Burlington Police Department. Miller highlighted this case as part of the U.S. Attorney’s Office’s Vermont Heroin Initiative, a multi-agency effort targeting heroin distribution in the state.

The prosecution was led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy C. Doherty, Jr., while Tocker-Rose was represented by Assistant Federal Public Defender David McColgin. The sentence sends a strong message that drug dealers will be held accountable for their crimes against the community.
