On a sweltering Sunday night in August 1946, the streets of Atlanta’s Dixie Hills neighborhood witnessed a chilling display of hate and intimidation. At approximately 8pm, three hooded men, clad in the typical regalia of the Ku Klux Klan, stood on a vacant lot near the corner of Simpson Road and West Lake Avenue. Their sinister intentions were soon revealed as they hurled two large rocks at the Dixie Hills Bus, leaving the community shaken and outraged.
