Fayette County Man Charged with Violating Federal Narcotics Laws
Kwame Eddings, a 41-year-old man from Republic, Pennsylvania, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on a charge of violating federal narcotics laws. Acting United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman announced the indictment today.
The one-count Superseding Indictment named Eddings as the sole defendant. According to the indictment, on or about March 17, 2021, Eddings possessed with the intent to distribute quantities of cocaine base, cocaine, and a mixture containing heroin and fentanyl.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of not more than 30 years in prison, a fine of not more than $2,000,000.00 or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offense and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Barbara K. Doolittle is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The investigation leading to the Superseding Indictment was conducted by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Pennsylvania State Police.
Eddings is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty. A superseding indictment is an accusation, and it is not a conviction or a finding of liability.
The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement agencies to combat drug trafficking in Pennsylvania. The Drug Enforcement Administration and the Pennsylvania State Police have been working tirelessly to disrupt and dismantle drug trafficking organizations in the state.
Kwame Eddings is scheduled to appear in court to face the charges against him. The case is a reminder that drug trafficking is a serious offense that carries significant penalties. We will continue to follow this case and provide updates as more information becomes available.
