Albuquerque Man Pleads Guilty to Abusive Sexual Contact of a Minor

Kyle Aguilar, a 40-year-old resident of San Felipe, New Mexico, has pleaded guilty to abusive sexual contact of a minor in Indian Country.

According to the plea agreement, between October 2, 2016, and February 13, 2017, Aguilar engaged in abusive sexual contact with a victim who was between 12 and 16 years old. The abuse occurred on the San Felipe Pueblo.

The defendant, who is an enrolled member of the San Felipe Pueblo, will remain on conditions of release pending sentencing, which has not been scheduled.

By the terms of the plea agreement, Aguilar faces up to four years in prison, and he must register as a sex offender.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs investigated this case, and Assistant United States Attorneys Nicholas J. Marshall and Brittany DuChaussee are prosecuting the case as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
