Felon in Possession Charge Rocks Medford Neighborhood
A Medford man has been indicted on a charge of being a felon in possession of ammunition, authorities announced today. According to the indictment, Kyle Evans, 34, was found in possession of four rounds of .22LR caliber ammunition on August 4, 2020, in Everett.
Due to a prior conviction punishable by at least one year in prison, Evans is prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition. The charging statute provides for a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.
The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and making neighborhoods safer. The PSN program brings together law enforcement and the community to develop effective strategies to reduce violent crime.
United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling, Kelly D. Brady, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Boston Field Division, Everett Police Chief Steven A. Mazzie, and Medford Police Chief Jack D. Buckley made the announcement today. Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Sullivan Jacobus of Lelling’s Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.
