Kyreik Vanstory, a 26-year-old Pittsburgh resident, faces serious charges for violating federal firearms laws.
A federal grand jury in Pittsburgh has indicted Vanstory on a single count of violating federal firearms laws. According to the indictment, on or about December 9, 2025, Vanstory knowingly possessed a 9mm Glock 19 pistol, despite being prohibited from doing so due to a previous felony conviction.
The indictment alleges that Vanstory, who had been previously convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year, knowingly possessed a firearm that he was not allowed to have. This charge carries a maximum total sentence of not more than 15 years in prison, a fine of not more than $250,000 or both.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the City of Duquesne Police Department conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case. Assistant United States Attorney R. Chase Stelzer is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence in communities. The program brings together law enforcement and community organizations to prevent violence from occurring in the first place.
An indictment is an accusation, and Vanstory is presumed innocent until proven guilty. If convicted, he could face a maximum of 15 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both.
