LOS ANGELES – The LA Strike Force delivered a major blow to the Sinaloa Cartel today, unsealing an indictment against 22 alleged members of the notorious drug trafficking organization. Seven defendants were arrested, including four who are fugitives and believed to be in Mexico.
The operation targeted hundreds of pounds of methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin, shipped from Mexico into the U.S., with proceeds funneled back to the cartels. The Strike Force investigation, spanning two years, yielded over $6 million worth of narcotics and 33 firearms, among other assets.
Acting United States Attorney Sandra R. Brown emphasized the importance of Strike Force operations in combating illegal drug trafficking and protecting Americans from associated violence. Deirdre Fike, Assistant Director of the FBI’s Los Angeles Field Office, highlighted the impact of these efforts on local neighborhoods and the national drug epidemic.
The LA Strike Force investigation was a collaborative effort between the FBI, DEA, IRS Criminal Investigation, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the United States Marshals Service, and the Azusa Police Department. Special Agent in Charge David J. Downing praised the multi-agency operation for disrupting the Sinaloa Cartel’s operations and sending a strong message to cartels that they will not be allowed to operate freely.
This crackdown on the Sinaloa Cartel’s drug importation network marks another significant victory for law enforcement agencies committed to stemming the flow of dangerous drugs into the United States.
