Buffalo, NY – In a shocking turn of events, a federal grand jury has handed down a five-count indictment against two Lackawanna men accused of running a cocaine ring in the city.
Andre Jones, Jr., 25, and Carvis McCutcheon, 33, were charged with narcotics conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute and distribution of cocaine and crack cocaine. The charges carry a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison, a maximum of 40 years, a $5,000,000 fine, or both, according to U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr.
Assistant U.S. Attorney John M. Alsup revealed that the indictment alleges the defendants conspired together to obtain and sell cocaine and crack cocaine in the City of Lackawanna between August 2012 and September 5, 2013. The indictment also states that drug sales occurred within 1000 feet of the Baker Homes, a public housing facility owned by the Lackawanna Municipal Housing Authority.
The investigation, led by the City of Lackawanna Police Department under the direction of Chief James Michel, and the Drug Enforcement Administration, under the direction of Brian R. Crowell, Special Agent in Charge, New York Field Division, has brought the duo to justice.
The indictment is a significant blow to the alleged cocaine ring, and authorities are optimistic about the outcome of the case. However, it’s essential to remember that a defendant is innocent until proven guilty.
The case is a stark reminder of the ongoing struggle against drug trafficking in the city. Authorities are working tirelessly to dismantle these rings and bring those responsible to justice.
The indictment is a testament to the collaborative effort between law enforcement agencies, and it serves as a warning to those who would engage in similar activities.
