Lamont Walter Haywood, Heroin Sales, West Virginia 2015

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – In a resounding blow against the drug trade, Lamont Walter Haywood, 38, of Huntington, was sentenced today to seven and a half years in federal prison for his role in distributing heroin, announced United States Attorney Carol Casto.

Haywood’s guilty plea came after he admitted selling heroin to an informant on January 22, 2015. The incriminating transaction was recorded at Star Communications on 8th Avenue in Huntington, a scene that has now been etched into the annals of local justice.

Further revelations exposed Haywood’s involvement in the sale of up to 700 grams of heroin between 2014 and 2015. His actions have not gone unpunished as he faces the harsh realities of federal incarceration.

The thorough investigation was carried out by the Huntington FBI Drug Task Force, with Assistant United States Attorney Gregory McVey leading the prosecution efforts. Chief United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers imposed the sentence, ensuring that justice was served for the community’s sake.

This conviction is a significant victory in the ongoing battle against prescription drug and heroin misuse led by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of West Virginia. Federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies are steadfastly committed to eliminating illegal pill trafficking and curbing the spread of drugs in Southern District communities.
