EUGENE, Ore. — Vincent Alan Elder, 32, of Eugene, Oregon, was handed a 24-year federal prison sentence for his sickening exploitation of minors across the country.
Elder, who used social media platforms like Snapchat and Instagram to prey on children, has been charged with coercing and sexually exploiting victims in Oregon, New York, and Florida. The sentence includes 288 months in federal prison, a lifetime term of supervised release, and a restitution order totaling $30,000.
According to court documents, Elder met and communicated with minors online before sending payments or gifts to entice nude photos. He threatened one victim in New York by implying harm to his sibling—a chilling act known as sextortion.
In response to the allegations, the FBI executed search warrants on November 2023, leading to Elder’s arrest. His devices revealed chats with victims, personal information, and nude images of one Florida minor.
United States Attorney Scott E. Bradford praised the victims for their courage and thanked law enforcement agencies for their swift action. The FBI’s Special Agent in Charge Doug Olson emphasized the importance of protecting children from such abuse. Elder pleaded guilty to Using a Minor to Produce Sexually Explicit Conduct and Attempted Coercion and Enticement charges.
This case, prosecuted by William M. McLaren, was investigated with support from the Springfield Police Department and the Eugene Police Department. The public is encouraged to report any information related to child exploitation to the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI or via tips.fbi.gov.
