A local man’s dealings in the dark world of cocaine trafficking have finally caught up with him. Laprese Gollman, 43, of Springfield, Massachusetts, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and distribution of, 500 grams or more of cocaine in the District of Connecticut.
The charge stems from a Drug Enforcement Administration investigation into a drug trafficking organization with ties to Connecticut and Massachusetts. On May 30, 2018, investigators arrested Gollman in New Haven as he attempted to purchase four kilograms of cocaine.
The arrest came after a long-standing investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Haven Regional Office and the New Haven and Hamden Police Departments. Gollman was seized with $100,000 at the time of his arrest.
The charge carries a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of five years and a maximum term of imprisonment of 40 years. However, due to Gollman’s prior conviction for a felony drug offense, he faces a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 10 years and a maximum term of imprisonment of life.
Gollman has been detained since his arrest, and his sentencing is scheduled for October 15, 2018. This matter is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jocelyn Courtney Kaoutzanis.
