Larose Man Gets 5 Years for Child Porn

JUSTIN DOUCET, a 21-year-old resident of Larose, Louisiana, has been sentenced to 5 years in prison for receiving child pornography, according to U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite.

U.S. District Judge Helen G. Berrigan handed down the sentence, which includes 5 years of supervised release and restitution of $8,000 to the victims. Doucet will also have to register as a sex offender.

The case against Doucet began on February 8, 2012, when Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation executed a search warrant at his residence, seizing several pieces of computer equipment that contained child pornography.

Assistant United States Attorney G. Dall Kammer is in charge of the prosecution, which was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.

U.S. Attorney Polite praised the Federal Bureau of Investigation for investigating the matter, saying their efforts are crucial in keeping our communities safe.

Doucet’s sentence serves as a reminder of the severity of child pornography crimes and the importance of holding perpetrators accountable. As part of Project Safe Childhood, the U.S. Attorney’s Office will continue to work tirelessly to identify and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet.
