Larry Vance, Child Pornography Distribution, Tennessee 2016

A Chattanooga man has been sentenced to 70 months in federal prison for distributing child pornography through a popular online classifieds website.

Larry Vance, 29, of Chattanooga, was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Harry S. Mattice Jr. on June 13, 2016, for his role in distributing images of child pornography via Craig’s List.

According to court documents, the investigation that led to Vance’s charges began in December 2015, when Texas law enforcement noticed that a Tennessee man was sending images of child pornography and discussing the molestation of children through the online platform.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Chattanooga Police Department assisted with the investigation.

Vance pleaded guilty to the charges in December 2015 and was subsequently sentenced to 70 months in federal prison. Upon his release, he will be supervised by the U.S. Probation Office for 15 years.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
