Nashville Man Charged with Being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm
Latreavias Burns, 28, of Nashville, has been charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, announced Acting United States Attorney Robert E. McGuire for the Middle District of Tennessee.
Burns, who has multiple prior felony convictions in Davidson County, Tennessee, including Attempted Second Degree Murder and Assault Resulting in Death and Accessory After the Fact, was found with a loaded 9mm pistol in his left pant leg during a search incident to arrest.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department detectives had been conducting surveillance in the area of South 6th Street and Summer Place in Nashville on April 17, 2025, when they identified Burns, who had active state warrants.
Burns had absconded from his community corrections program prior to this incident, according to the Tennessee Department of Corrections.
If convicted, Burns faces a maximum of 15 years in federal prison and a maximum fine of $250,000, as stated in the criminal complaint.
The case is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Rachel M. Stephens is prosecuting the case.
