Ajibola Erogbogbo, Robbery, Maryland 2014

Greenbelt, Maryland – In a chilling admission of guilt, Ajibola Erogbogbo, 19, from Laurel, Maryland, has pleaded guilty to a spree of robbery, abduction, and sexual assault against several prostitutes. According to the United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein and other officials, Erogbogbo’s plea agreement was announced following an extensive investigation.

Erogbogbo, who previously worked as a security guard at Six Flags amusement park and attended Anne Arundel Community College, is accused of orchestrating his crimes under the guise of police authority. On January 9, 2014, he targeted a prostitute in Linthicum Heights, Maryland, using a deceptive ruse involving a ‘police’ uniform to gain control.

After being confronted with a gun and falsely claiming she was under arrest, Erogbogbo handcuffed the woman and demanded money. Fearing for her life, the woman escaped and alerted authorities, who apprehended Erogbogbo after reviewing surveillance footage. The incident led to a broader investigation by the Maryland Child Exploitation Task Force (MCETF).

During the subsequent investigation, Erogbogbo attempted to arrange multiple dates with prostitutes, using his police officer guise each time. He was caught on several occasions demanding money and wielding illegal firearms. One instance saw him taking $800 from one victim while returning $600 to another.

Erogbogbo’s criminal activities spanned across different hotels in the area, utilizing his false identity as a police officer to exploit his victims. His crimes came to an end when authorities connected with another prostitute who had also fallen prey to his deception.

With today’s guilty plea, Erogbogbo faces serious charges for his terrifying actions. The community expresses relief that justice is being served and that the danger has been removed from these women’s lives.
