Marcos Riquiac-Ordonez, Illicit Reentry, Massachusetts 2016

A 41-year-old Guatemalan national has been slapped with a federal indictment for brazenly reentering the United States after being deported, authorities announced.

Marcos Riquiac-Ordonez, a Lawrence, Mass., resident, was indicted on June 11, 2025, by a federal grand jury for unlawfully reentering the country after being deported in 2016.

According to the indictment, Riquiac-Ordonez was deported from the US on April 26, 2016, but allegedly illegally reentered the country sometime after his removal without permission.

Riquiac-Ordonez was arrested by immigration authorities on May 12, 2025. He now faces a serious charge of unlawful reentry of a deported alien, which carries a maximum prison sentence of two years, one year of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.

US Attorney Leah B. Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston, made the announcement. Assistant US Attorney Alexandra W. Amrhein of the Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.

The case is a stark reminder of the serious consequences of violating US immigration laws. Riquiac-Ordonez is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The DOJ has made it clear that the rule of law will be upheld, and those who break it will face the full force of justice. Riquiac-Ordonez’s case is just one example of the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies to protect the nation’s borders and uphold its laws.
